Was wondering if there was some way we could specifically "target" this meeting to the kinds of people Perry is talking about: loners, shut-ins, etc. I know that GSO can connect AA "loners" with "loner sponsors" nationally and internationally. I believe people write to the central office looking for someone to correspond with, and other AAs have put their names in as volunteers to do this kind of service. (I don't mean to "dis-include" others, just to emphasize our support of those who really CAN'T get to meetings. This kind of meeting might be very valuable to people like this.)

Maybe online meetings are too new to have such a thing set up yet. Does anybody know if GSO might do this for online meetings, or have other ideas about how to find people who might want to be included?

Barbara's idea is a good one and one that we discussed at the SCSC meeting last night.

We also discussed that we should have a GSR as well so that they could represent the group, ask GSO about these questions, and report our progress as they have requested.

We were hoping that Tim V. would be willing to fill this position (for the temp. 3 months) as he has been in contact with GSO previously.

Can the GSO perform the duties from the internet alone or must he be inperson in PA.

Thomas:

I think we will have a better idea of the duties of the officers near the end of the 3 month temporary trial.

August 4, 1997 business meeting

First I would like to Thank everyone for their participation in this wonderful , incredible on-line meeting. The steering committee has nominated Tim V. as our GSR if he accepts. We also agreed on Perry H. as our Alternate Treasurer.

We discussed our future financial needs for a self-supporting on line meeting and came up with the following; We decided that we will need a prudent reserve of $100.00 in order to keep our bank account open, and to be able to make transactions. There will also be an initial one time fee of $150.00 in order to have a permanent Domain(for example: www.stayingcyber.com). We are getting our own Domain name because it makes the technical options we plan on using to preserve Anonymity and practice Traditions possible. It is also better for the group financially in the long term. Please when sending a donation, write your check out to "Staying Cyber" We appreciate all your donations so far, and Judy your card was lovely.

There will be e-mail links to the treasurer and secretary for a quarterly treasurer report, and for voting. The secretary will be sworn to secrecy for voting, and the group will e-mail the secretary with a vote..It will be set up like the leaders page to volunteer for an office.

To become a member of the group, you may e-mail the secretary including your name, your sober date, and e-mail address. Also you may give permission to the secretary as to whether or not you want your e-mail address given out to newcomers in order to complete 12th step work. We would like to thank everyone again for making this all possible, and for all your support while we figure out on a temporary basis the logistics of how this can work to carry the message to those who are still suffering, and that may not have other meetings available because of their circumstances. Your Temporary Secretary,

Just some information regarding on-line AA meetings that I am aware of and want to share. There are some reports in the 1996 and 1997 Conference Report that is worthwhile reading and you may want to check out the On-line Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous. Its URL is www.aa-intergroup.org When we get further "organized" the group may want to get involved with oiaa. At this point I'm not sure where a GSR with go to represent us and as far as I know it's not resolved at the conference level either. Just thought I'd point my 2 cents worth in :). Have a happy 24 everyone.

Thanks David, We have been aware of the oiaa from the very start but it was decided we would not have any links to us until the group voted to open the meeting to the world.

And what was discussed at the Steering comitee meeting about a GSR, was more about having someone to be a liason to GSO,to keep them posted on our groups development theey had expressed intrest in that from the very beginning when Tim V. told them what we wanted to do, also the liason could bring back to the group any developments from GSO regarding online meetings.

Saturday I did all the paperwork at the bankand our checking is now in the process of being opened. Perry was going to the bank on Monday to add his signature and than the bank would process the checks and we should have them within 7 -10 days. I sent in the paperwork for our tax number, so everything is going just fine. The checks will be regular checks with our name and address, and if we keep our balance above $100 a month there will be no service charge. If anyone has questions for me , please get me on e- mail. thanks Bob B.
