The Access OnLine web server (1acc.com) was offline from Sun. am until Mon. pm so the meeting was unavailable.

I spent 1 hour 40 minutes in the meeting today, most of it in the business meeting I think we will lose participation if we don't simplify and abbreviate this. Maybe we need to think about a different approach entirely

Business meeting kicked me out with some blurb about "performing an illegal operation." I think that one business subject per week is probably easier on the mind and eye.

Well, Tim V, that lyin', cheatin, etc person is one of my favorite people -- and I think it's more of a WAS than an IS.

Ready for some AA heresy.

Maybe we should can this web site business meeting and let a few "inner circle" trusted cyrvants run the show. The rest of us can bitch if we don't like it, and make them change things we object too! That way we would only have to deal with problems rather than making the obvious so much work.

We could still use the coffee pot to express our thoughts outside the meeting topic. The "trusted cyrvants" would then automatically review that material and digest it into our "group conscience".

If the "trusted cyrvants" misinterpret the group conscience, we tell them and they change it.

It is certainly simplier! And will put this meeting back in perspective. It a fun adjunct to our sobriety, not a life consuming task.

Many blessings to all my friends, and great appreciation to the cyrvants for all this work!!!

Well, Tim, I've been thinking about this problem a lot. You remember your lyin, cheatin alcoholic self? I remember my irresponsible self. give me a chance to sit back and be entertained and I'll grab at it! I won't help or support, and finally I won't care! It's easy to be inactive, but it is NOT the easier, softer way! Let me point out that there have been only two shares on the week's topic, and it's already Thursday. Moreover, no one has signed up for leader for next week. Yeh, it gets simple, all right!

The wise women of the North has spoken.

I can only carry the message, not the drunk, my old friend and sponsor Art told me 500 times.

Another friend and sponsor from another area, Tony R. told me that if he could give me his sobriety he would tear it out of his heart and hand it to me. Alas, he went on, that is not how it works.

Everyone has to decide what length they are willing to go for their sobriety and this meeting. In my case, I'm willing to go to any length today. Other's may have committments to other groups and may be unable to spend the time some of us are blessed with on this meeting. I don't know.

I do know, that Tim G and Barry are working their asses off and doing a great job of managing this meeting and most others don't have the time to participate regularly. I'm only trying to be practical!

Why should these guys go to all this trouble, when we can do the same thing easier. Those that are interested in being members of this "group" can say so and have all the input they want. Even if it's only for today.

Those that want to just visit a great meeting and share or listen should be able to do that too, and without a guilt trip about their committment. (Nothing personal intended)

I love AA, I love this meeting, and I love all those who give and take from this meeting!

Many blessings...

I second Tim V.'s thanks to Tim and Barry. I also think we should make their lives as easy as possible.

Since the website is donated, why not let it ride like that for now? Someone has already suggested a way to pay back for this: we can individually donate to GSO. This seems to me simple and clean, and certainly would be of service to AA. And we can invite others to post when and if they choose.

The charm of this site, for me, is that it seems more like a kind of "grafitti wall" than an actual meeting. Don't mean that as a joke, at all, and I hope it doesn't offend anyone! For me it's a spot where people can figuratively take out their chalk and mark up a little spot with experience, strength, and hope, and that others can use for encouragement or sobriety-strengthening.

I really like that. And I agree with Tim that people should feel free to contribute, or not, as they see fit. I have really enjoyed the many posts in the past several weeks.

And, anyway, service is meant to keep US sober, as Tim has pointed out....

I like the concept of graffiti -- but to remain vital, even graffiti must be seen, written next to, scrubbed off, re-painted or something. I absolutely believe that people do not have to participate. However, I see a dwindling meeting with several people working very hard indeed. Of course there may be an enormous amount of cheering, but the perceived silence is getting louder. What concerns me is that we had some 23 names on an Email, and they got lost somehow. Makes me uncomfortable.

You are a good witch er ugh what I mean er er... Well, you know what I mean.

I share WW's feelings about the participation, but I don't have any suggestion to change others.

I only think we can change ourselves to make this the best place it can be for electronic AA. And if we do that, those who seek what we seek and share what we share will join us. If we don't, then we will go the way of the buffalo and many other AA meetings that missed the point!

Art also told me that AA had a way of screening itself, so that that which did not work passed!

I can't believe how much I learned from that guy, and never expected to quote him so much. Especially, since I use to fight with him so much! For those of you who know him, I bet you are smiling with me at the pleasure Art must be getting floating around electron AA!

Sorry for being so silent the passed few weeks. I and my family have been relocating to Poland for a minimum of four months, probably for good if not oh well I guess God wants this drunk somewhere else.

I believe in a Business meeting but simple. Lets not complicate it. This is a bit differant from a regular meeting in that we mustttt have professional experienced people to maintaine and grow this type of meeting format.

Thank you Tim and Berry. Verrrrrrryyy much. You have helped me more than you know. I believe the business meeting should be a formate such as this and the officers or trusted cybrants shuould be able to introduce subjects at their will as anyone can. Giver it two weeks to one month for a concensious to be formed and then act on it.

I know when I need to make one because of the way I feel. So please except my apoligies for not being as active a participant as I know I could of been.

Is there anything I could do. I'm moved in now to Warsaw, Poland for the forseeable future and realy need this meeting to stay connected to my recovery safty net. So all of you out there that know me please give me a kick in the ass if can.

I must repat this for me. I neeeeed this meeting. In Warsaw there is only 6 to 10 active English speaking AA's and to be able to here from you all as I spend two to three hours a day on my computor is like being home when ever I just click my heals (mouse) and like Dorathy said there no place like home. I miss that 6:30 AM meeting in SBURG.

Love your repentant Tomasz L.

Welcome John.

Thanks are not needed to me this is just another way to "Pass On" what was freely given to me.

I remember Art D. giving me a ride to my 2nd meeting out of rehab, and telling me the Steps are what get us sober but the Traditions are what keep us sober.

I hope that this meeting-group will be run by the 12 Traditions,I remember learning in a tradition meeting that even if a church or member donates a meeting space(graffiti wall) we are obliged to pay rent anyway.

So here's the drill. The Wicked Witch of the North bemoans dwindling participation and instantly we have next week's leader, Tomasz is back, John, Bernie and Jim C sign in and SHAZAM! I'm Glinda the Good! Transformed! Happy with the sharing and renewed vitality -- oh, me of little faith!
