Do we need Officers?

Secretary?

Chairperson?

As a member I have been thinking about David’s comment of whether we are a group or a meeting. I think that we should follow what’s suggested in the Group pamphlet as far as electing officers and the structure of a group. However I feel that we should continue to keep the 'group' to word of mouth access because I feel that we have to, not because I want to. I think that we should elect a Secretary and possibly and alternate to keep track of members and anniversaries and also to help chair this business meeting. I think we should also elect a Treasurer and alternate to handle contributions.

As a Trusted Cyrvant I think it is important to mention that I think that the duties of the officers could be handled by any of the members, I don’t think that any 'technical' knowledge beyond using email would be necessary.

I see immediate need to start to share ( our topic for the week) some of the group business responsibilities. I suggest that Barry, Tim G., and possibly me or someone else in E.Burg, get together and outline some groups of responsibilities that could be handled by certain officers. We could and would, of course, incorporate any suggestions from this forum.

I like Tim's idea of some Eburg brainstormers to hash out problems face-to-face ahead of time. A treasurer & assistant seem obvious, probably a cesreatary for logistical problems. The leadership should rotate right from the website. Perhaps a "board" of about 3 to 5 "Trusted Cyrvants" could be elected to manage unexpected business?

Right Judy, we don't want to forget the principle of rotating cyrvants. How about 6 month or 1 year terms, so we aren't hasseled with a new election every month.

Personaly

I feel we should have officers like a regular group

Treasurer and alternate to handle money stuff

Secretary to handle anniversarys, member info etc.

Chairperson who would oversee the business meeting

I agree these should be 6-12 month committment in order to provide stability for the group, and that these officers would comprise the steering commitee of trusted servants who oversee the group.

As a Trusted Cyrvant

This business meeting format, was set up so that a chairperson could set the topic or topics as necessary for the growth of the group using only their web browser, and as Tim G. stated none of the officers would require any technical ability beyond email.

We Trusted Cyrvants, would have no objection to voluntary technical administrators,in addition to ourselves.now that the site is set up their is not much technical work, about 30-45 minutes a week,to refresh the site officers would require and

I like the idea of some or all of you in Eburg area to get together and do some thinking on the topic of officers. I guess the treasurer takes some thinking considering that a checking account would probably have to be opened. Otherwise, the other officers can get together electronically.
