From a technical point of view this seemed to us the simplest way to have an ongoing discussion on the current issues concerning Staying Cyber.

If the members agree with the basic layout that we have come up with we feel that all the members should decide on the format for this Business Meeting.

What topics should be discussed?

How long will a topic be discussed?

When and how (motion?) do we vote on a topic?

Yes, I always have great respect for a business meeting. Very important.

As a member I think this business meeting is necessary for the many topics it seems that we have to discuss. I think that the BM should be ongoing, discussing several topics and/or elections every week. I don’t think that it should be up to the Trusted Cyrvants to 'chair' the business meeting, I feel this should be done by someone who has been elected. The Secretary could decide on the topics to be discussed for the week, decide when discussion on a topic should be ended and prompt for a motion, and count votes for an election.

1. Thanks Tim and Barry for all the work you've done.

2. As I commented in the first topic, I don't think we need to call for votes on issues that there is obvious unanimity on. Like the 7th tradition. Other issues may lack sufficient focus to warrant a vote. The discussion thus far on opening to the www may be an example of this. The individual members may need or wish to call for a vote on an issue that the secretary does not recognize. We could be very flexible with this for now, trusting in the higher power to express herself in our group conscience.

The meeting format is a little slow to work through. I have been in the business meeting for about 40 minutes and I still have one more item to go. I wonder if we can have a format like the coffepot or current meeting, where all the comments are posted together so that it will save the steps of loading each comment every time you want to read it?

Any other suggestions for speed and simplicity, I think would be well advised to try to keep participation to the maximum.

As a Trusted Cyrvant

Tim G and I chose this discussion group format for the BM because we felt it would allow more focused replies to specific topics, the topics and comments we chose for this initial meeting, were only to get ball rolling (sorry if we put in to many). As Tim G said we don't want to run this business meeting. If the members would prefer a coffee pot format we can do that just as easily.

The problem you adressed about time for this format may be caused by this servers response ability,to process a reply and refresh. If we went to a dedicated hosting server these times may drop considerably.

Although it takes some time going through the topics I like the idea of keeping the and the discussion of the topics separated like you have devised. I may not get through them all at one sitting, but I eventually would. Thanks for all your work and service.
