Welcome to the 2010 San Antonio Staying Cyber Page!

We have created this special page for all our AA friends -- all who are here online, across the world, eager to participate in the International Convention. The page will be active in conjunction with the convention from Thursday, July 1, thru Sunday, July 4, 2010.

Anyone can share, ask questions, report on the action from San Antonio, or simply say hello to new and old friends! As always, we welcome everyone -- especially the newcomer, whether it be to AA or AA online

A warm welcome to all visitors to this page. I want to wish all my staying cyber friends a wonderful experience there in San Antonio. I have been to the San Fernando Valley, CA convention and I know how awesome it feels to experience so many sober people in one place. I do wish I could be there.

I want to extend a special hello to anyone from my original home group in Burbank, California. And a special hello to my local friends from Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Have fun JanBB and everyone else from this site that are there, I will be with you there in spirit that is for sure. Make notes and share when you get back.

Conferences and conventions are a breath of fresh air and rejuvenating experience, I think. Of course, my first day of sobriety was at the “Singles in Sobriety” Annual Conference in Oklahoma at Lake Murray.

For many years, I returned to the conference to celebrate my “birthday”. Like most, the conference ended with the “big name speaker” and a dance on the last night. One year during the dance, several of us went down to the dock for a smoke and chat, and while we were there a large yacht pulled in. The driver was obviously having a challenging time getting the large rig up to the dock, and as they killed the engine and started tying off, it became apparent that these guys had been having their own party.

Being out on the lake in a boat and not at the lodge, they thought they had found a good party to crash, and we could hear them talking about taking beer up to the patio and attracting some ladies back to their boat.

As they took off up the hill with high hopes and a couple of six-packs of beer, we couldn’t wait for the result. They came back with their tails between their legs, in complete disbelief that so many people that didn’t drink could be in one place.

It will be like that in San Antonio this week, the people drinking beer on the Riverwalk will be the ones that stand out like a sore thumb – if there’s even room for them at all.

Have a great time you guys and girls – and keep us posted!
Whatever is said at this meeting expresses an individual opinion. We do not speak for A.A. as a whole and you are free to agree or disagree. The program of AA is in the Big Book.

I'll put this post from last night on the right page as a matter of record >

Live from San Antonio Texas and a hotel wireless connection to report a successful rendezvous of SC-er’s at La Maragita’s in Market Square. 18 souls all arriving on time and in the right location from across at least most of the western hemisphere. Fairly Amazing actually! We dispersed into a vast dancing crowd after dinner suffused with a vast sense of well being and ready for the days to follow.

Even before we met for dinner I had one of those amazing coincidences when I ran into a couple who had not picked up their name tags yet but wanted to know where in Texas I was from reading mine. Turned out they were from Anchor Point, Alaska where I had been to exactly one noon meeting in September of 2005 at the Anchor Point Group which is located immediately above the liquor store with which I had been familiar with in previous years. I bought a paperback Big Book and handed my $5.50 that day to a lady I would meet at the International 5 years later. I called that getting off to a good start on this little get together.

Looks to be a little wet in San Antonio today; but at least it isn’t 105 in the shade. We have our green volunteer shirts on and about to head into downtown on the shuttle bus where we will be till after the Big Meeting with 50,000 tonight.

More amazement in store I am sure.

you people have a safe and sober day and/or night

Synchronicity for quantum mechanics? Steve, if you get to any of the talks on cyber AA, won't you see if they have transcripts or a synopsis I could download?

Enjoy the flag ceremony all of you in San Antonio!
