The Coffee Pot

So, me and Miss T went to the State Fair yesterday and had a grand ol time wandering the fairgrounds doing a lot of people watching and eating and riding rides and eating and walking thru the buildings and eating and doing even more people watching and just plainly entertaining ourselves with everything the fair has to offer, which is quite a lot.
Oh yeah, did I mention that we also ate there too?

We still had a couple ride tickets left but before we used them we settled down at the Chevy Court to watch a concert while at the other end of the fairgrounds others paid big bucks to see Rascle Flats, we defered to watch the free show at C C

I never heard of the band before but researched him on the net Friday night and told Tara I liked his sound so it might be a good show to attend.

And what a show it was. Robert Randolph and The Family Band put on a great show that had us dancing all the way to the midway!!!
I'm a blues lover and this dude played some great blues strumming his steel guitar (more popular among country music then rock but this guy made that baby sing!!!)

What a show!!!!! I'm so glad we checked him out as now I have another bluesman's music to enjoy. Real good concert.

Took Tara back home a little early today as she wanted to go to another festival out her way with her friend so afterwards I spent a couple hours fishing catching nothing probably due to the very windy albeit clear weather.
Still adds up to a bad day of fishing is much better then a good day at work.

God Night, ((Everyone))

It's been a wonderful day here in Key West, where I somehow managed to relax for the bulk of the day. Spent some time at the usually quiet beach, forgetting it was Labor Day weekend, so I left in short order and spent the day futzing around, reading some and even managed a nop for an hour or so.

My good friend and co-worker, Tom, and I went out to dinner where I ordered shrimp scampi. What came out was not shrimp scampi but I ate without complaint and it was good but not shrimp scampi. I mean...the little shrimps weren't scampering around or anything! (Tom thinks I'm a little bit insane when I come up with stuff like that). Actually, it was little breaded shrimps, smothered in spaghetti sauce and enough melted mozzarella cheese to float a good sized boat - all over too much spaghetti LOL.

   By the way - the huge Bessemer engine I mentioned also was a a hit and miss engine. However the ignition was from a hot tube that was heated by natural gas just like a glow plug in model airplane engines.

Linda R - I know exactly what you mean by the rigidness of the BBSS meetings. I have a love/hate relationship with the one I'm in. I was so annoyed at the way they all say "I've had experience with these steps with the help of God and a big book step study sponsor" and anyone who hasn't can't share. That is... until I started really listening to those shares and realized that they are carrying the message and not the mess.

HOWEVER... that being said, I will NEVER and I mean NEVER talk about BBSS meetings as being better than any other meeting or put down open AA. I love AA and every meeting has its purpose and helps people in different ways. This is not for everyone, but I was willing to look at all of my resentments and that included the ones against the rigidness of this process as well as the clone-like introductions. These very resentments are part of my 4th step and my sponsor laughed when she read them and said "oh we're so much alike, you and me." So apparently I'm not the first, nor will I be the last to feel that way.

The thing of it is, I have done a 4th step 3 other times, but I was only scratching the surface and I still wasn't at peace and felt lost and so unsure of myself. I've been studying A Course in Miracles and want nothing more than to truly know God and trust that I am one with Him... my sponsor has also studied the course and when I told her that, she said "everything you're writing and bringing up in this 4th step was a block to being that channel for God"... and she had me.

I'm glad I'm doing it and feel like I've definitely turned a corner from the initial phase of cause and effects... the turnarounds are really helping me see the truth. But as Marianne Williamson once said "the truth shall set you free - but first it will piss you off!" I take that to mean that when you really dig deep, you will see that you were the one who gave everything its misguided meaning and caused the judgment and resentment in the first place. I have a friend who wrote a book called "Oh MY God... It's ME!" and it is about exactly that. Realizing that we are the ones - not God who created the mess we've got ourselves into!!
